About the Flexible Production Line
A flexible production line refers to a manufacturing line composed of machining centres or flexible manufacturing cells that can produce multiple product types on the same line. Such a line consists of four subsystems: an automatic machining system, a logistics system, an information system, and a software system.

The automatic machining system is based on group technology. It groups together parts that have similar external dimensions (though not necessarily identical shapes), approximate weights, the same materials, and similar processing techniques, and processes them on one or several CNC machines or dedicated machine tools.

The logistics system comprises various transport devices, such as conveyor belts, track‑turntables, and manipulators, which supply and transport workpieces, tools, etc. This part of the operation will be shared by two robots, which are scheduled to arrive at our facility in August.

The information system refers to the system that collects, processes, and feeds back all types of information required during machining and transport, and implements hierarchical control over machine tools or transport equipment through electronic computers or other control devices (hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.).

The software system is an indispensable component for the effective management of the flexible production line using electronic computers. It includes software for design, planning, production control, and system monitoring.
